The Poinciana cargo liner

This Dutch cargo liner was built in 1961, it measured 227 feet in length and 34 feet in height. Whilst sailing towards Haiti, it sank in the mouth of the Miami River.

But how that could this happen?

The cargo liner was overloaded following a mix up between pounds and kilograms. Instead of putting a loading of 139 tons, that is to say 306 495 pounds, they put in 306 tons, twice as much as they meant to!
