Assessment (2008-2009)
French teachers
Interactive Brittany (Maths and English)
From the beginning, we felt a greater interest in this activity compared to previous years: a general presentation by the four teachers involved, pupils more motivated, the schedule given at the beginning and a software more attractive.
As usual with the writing of problems in English, the difficult thing is to convince the pupils that writing in French first then translating is a very bad idea!
Many pupils have unfortunately imitated the teacher's example. As against 5 pairs were really involved in the project and have done very interesting books.
The interactive books were also a way of presenting our region and its particularities (food, music, monuments…) I wanted them to find information in English first (either on the Net or in books) and to use what they had found (examples of recipes, articles from Wikipedia, the way quizzes or games in English are made ….) as a starting point. A few of them have tried but let’s be honest, we still have a long way to go to change wrong habits!
